Dr. Maria Vittoria Cicinelli

Medical Doctor, MD , FEBO, Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milano (Italy).


Maria Vittoria Cicinelli, MD, FEBO, got her medical degree in 2013 and her residency training in Ophthalmology in 2019 at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milano (Italy). Her main topics of interest are Medical Retina, Uveitis/Oncology, and Epidemiology of eye disease. She is a fellow of the Global Vision Database (GVD), a world-based project which provides global estimates for the prevalence of blindness and vision impairment and risk factors (https://www.globalvisiondata.org). She completed two short-term fellowships in Ocular Oncology in India and Spain, respectively, and a one-year fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Northwestern University (Chicago, Illinois). She is an enthusiastic researcher and a young mentor for trainees and residents. Dr. Cicinelli is part of the International Retina Panel (2019-2021) and she is a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology since 2019. She got the National scientific qualification for Associate Professor in July 2020. Dr. Cicinelli has contributed to more than 130 peer-reviewed articles. She is the 2020 awardee of the International Council of Ophthalmology Allergan Fellowship, a research grant supporting international ophthalmologists.
