Dr. Aniruddha Agarwal, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dr. Agarwal received his medical degree from the Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. Dr. Agarwal completed his Postdoctoral Clinical and Research fellowship in diseases of the Retina and Uveitis at the Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, USA. After his fellowship in the USA, Dr. Agarwal practiced as a Vitreoretina Surgeon and Uveitis Consultant in India where he served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India.
Dr. Agarwal is a member of various international scientific societies such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG), International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), and several others. He is an American Board Eligible Ophthalmologist with previous medical licenses issued for Nebraska and California, USA.
Dr. Agarwal is a prolific researcher and has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts in international literature and book chapters. He leads an International Consortium on surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases with colleagues from Italy and USA. In addition, he is a member of the international Collaborative Ocular Tuberculosis Study Group (COTS). Dr. Agarwal has keen interest in retinal and choroidal imaging and has participated in several international research projects as the lead author.
He has won several international awards from Vitreoretina and Uveitis societies to date. For his achievements in the field of medicine, Dr. Agarwal was conferred the Gold Medal by the Honorable Prime Minister of India in 2014.
